— A Chapter on Wise Strategy from Isaiah 11:1–2
This morning, I sat down with my devotional, not hurried but still distracted—one part reaching, one part resting. And yet, the moment I read the words, something stilled me. Isaiah 11 again. A familiar scripture, yet somehow it struck me like it was brand new. That’s the way the Spirit teaches. You can be reading the same line for years and then suddenly—today—He breathes on one phrase and it rearranges your entire perception.
“The Spirit of Yahweh will rest upon him, the Spirit of Extraordinary Wisdom, the Spirit of Perfect Understanding, the Spirit of Wise Strategy, the Spirit of Mighty Power, the Spirit of Revelation, and the Spirit of the Fear of Yahweh.”
—Isaiah 11:2 TPT
I’ve been praying through the seven attributes of the Spirit of the Lord this week. Each one comes like a layer of oil—separate in fragrance, but one in essence. Today’s was the Spirit of Wise Strategy. And that phrase—so familiar to me—began to shimmer in a new light as I read the line from my devotional:
“The Holy Spirit has a strategic way of doing things, though He rarely unveils every detail of His plan… His faith won’t let us miss His cues.”
I paused.
I reread it.
And then I wrote it down in thirds:
His faith.
Won’t let us.
Miss His cues.
And I sat there, stunned.
Because I had never seen it that way before.
The Faith of God
We often speak of our faith.
How much we need.
How little we feel.
How we wish we had more.
But how often do we meditate on His faith?
Scripture says, “We love because He first loved us.”
So it is with faith.
We believe because He first believed.
“…the life I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
— Galatians 2:20 (KJV)
It doesn’t say faith in, it says faith of—and that’s not a translation error.
It’s a theological anchor.
It means His faith is what animates your faith.
His confidence in the plan.
His trust in the process.
His steadfast assurance that the cues will come and you’ll recognize them.
And suddenly, I realized—I’ve spent so long trying to hold on to faith like a child grasping at air, not realizing faith was holding on to me.
His faith won’t let me miss it.
That’s not a slogan. That’s a strategy.
What Are “Cues,” Really?
I paused to look up the word cue. I know what it means… but I’ve learned the whisper in my spirit often grows louder when I slow down and seek more.
Cue (n.):
A signal for action
A subtle prompt that tells someone it is time to do something
A guiding mark or stimulus that triggers behavior or response
The definitions held weight, but I felt the Holy Spirit urge me to read between them. A cue is not a command. It’s not always loud. It’s not always obvious. It’s a signal—and signals are often sensed more than they are seen.
That’s why only intimacy can interpret them.
The closer you walk with Him, the more fluent you become in His cues.
And yet, what comfort…
To know that even when we miss it, even when we’re unsure, even when we’re weary or distracted—His faith won’t let us miss it. His love is too strategic for that.
The Spirit of Strategy: “Etsah”
The Hebrew word for strategy here is etsah (עֵצָה).
It means:
• Counsel
• Advice
• Purpose
• Deliberate plan
• Navigation or steering
It’s used throughout the Old Testament to describe both divine and earthly wisdom, but when it refers to God, it carries with it a sacred undertone of unshakable assurance. The picture it gives is not of a war general barking orders—but of a seasoned Captain, gently turning the helm of a great ship, guiding it through mist, storm, and open sea, one degree at a time.
You may not see where you’re going.
But He does.
And His faith in the journey He’s steering you through won’t let your ship run aground.
That is strategy.
Not speed.
Not knowing every detail.
But being unshakably led.
Divine Navigation Is Not a Map—It’s a Man
Too often, we demand the map.
We say, “Lord, show me Your plan.”
And He answers, “Walk with Me.”
Because the plan is not a blueprint.
The plan is a Person.
And His name is Yeshua.
The Spirit of Wise Strategy rests on Him and flows from Him to us. Not so we can boast in how clearly we see—but so we can rest in how closely we’re being held.
Wise strategy is not just knowing what to do.
It’s knowing how to wait.
It’s knowing Who is guiding you.
It’s trusting that the Counselor is also the Carpenter.
And that when the timing is right, the next piece will fit perfectly into place.
The Cue Is Coming
The cue doesn’t come from pressure. It comes from Presence.
It’s not always a voice—it’s a vibration, a nudge, a glow in your spirit that says: Now. Move. Wait. Speak. Rest.
He will not let you miss it.
Because He is more committed to His plans for your life than you are.
That is wise strategy.
That is etsah.
Not reaction—but divine orchestration.
Not chaos—but ordered steps.
“Many are the plans in a person’s heart,
But it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”
— Proverbs 19:21
⸻ What Are His Cues? What Is He Whispering Now? ⸻
His cues are not always loud.
In fact, they rarely are.
They are subtle. Sacred. Specific.
And more often than not, they arrive like a memory that brushes your spirit instead of your mind—a nudge that doesn’t make logical sense, but feels undeniably true. That’s because Holy Spirit doesn’t guide you by volume. He guides you by vibration—by resonance. When something rings true, your spirit knows it before your brain does.
So what are His cues?
Sometimes it’s the quiet urge to wait when everything in your flesh says move.
Sometimes it’s a persistent thought that won’t leave you alone, like a golden thread being pulled toward a person, a place, a verse, or an idea.
Sometimes it’s the feeling that you already know what to do—but fear is trying to talk you out of it.
Sometimes it’s peace that comes like a warm covering the moment you make the smallest yes.
And sometimes, it’s a closed door that felt cruel at first, but protected you from what would’ve drained you dry.
His cues often carry the sound of conviction, not condemnation.
Of clarity, not chaos.
Of correction, not criticism.
Holy Spirit doesn’t pressure you—He prompts you. He doesn’t confuse you—He confirms. He doesn’t force you—He fathers you.
And the cue you may be hearing right now might be the very fact that you’re reading this line. You didn’t find it by accident. His Spirit knows how to whisper in echoes. He draws us in with breadcrumbs. He repeats things we’ve overlooked. He opens old journal entries at just the right time. He places the same verse on a friend’s lips and a stranger’s post.
He is whispering. The question is… what has been repeating lately?
That’s your cue.
Now… pause. Ask Him to bring it back to your spirit.
What stood out this week that didn’t make sense at the time?
What word or image keeps appearing?
What part of a dream have you tried to forget, but can’t?
What did you feel when you walked into that room?
What came alive in you when you heard that song?
That’s your cue. Follow it like a trail of sacred breadcrumbs.
The Spirit of Wise Strategy isn’t just giving you answers.
He’s drawing you into the dance.
And the beauty is this: His faith won’t let you miss Him. Even if you take the long way home, you won’t miss the door He opened just for you.
You just have to listen.
Not with your ears…
…but with your yes.
⸻
Final Thought
So today, breathe differently.
Listen differently.
Trust differently.
Not because you have more faith—
But because His faith is holding you steady.
And as you lean into that truth, you’ll realize…
You will not miss the cue.
You will not drift off course.
You will not fail to arrive.
Because He is the Strategy.
And the Strategy is Love.
And Love never fails.

I Hear the Spirit Say…
“Beloved, I am not hiding from you.
I am guiding you.
My cues are already in motion—woven through your days, tucked into the pauses, humming beneath what you call coincidence.
You are not late.
You are not behind.
You have not missed Me.
I am teaching you to trust the tug before you understand the turn.
To follow the nudge before you see the map.
To recognize My voice not by volume, but by peace.
When something repeats, it is not random.
When something stirs, it is not imagination.
When something rests on you gently and will not lift, it is invitation.
Let Me train your attention.
Let Me refine your listening.
I am speaking in impressions, confirmations, interruptions, and holy restraint.
I am speaking in what stops you—and what sends you.
Do not rush past the cue because it feels small.
Do not dismiss the whisper because it feels familiar.
I often come disguised as ordinary faithfulness.
Follow the breadcrumb.
Honor the pause.
Say yes to the next small obedience.
My strategy is sure.
My counsel is faithful.
And My faith within you will not allow you to miss what I have prepared.
Stay close.
Stay yielded.
I am leading you—step by step—into what I have already secured.”
