“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.”
(Matthew 28:19–20 AMP)
These were not parting words.
These were launching words.
These were not a farewell speech;
they were a commissioning into a kingdom movement
that would ripple through centuries,
cross every border,
and reach every generation.
These were present-tense imperatives,
action words pulsing with divine urgency:
Go.
Make.
Teach.
Observe.
Baptize.
Each verb a flame,
each command an invitation to participate in the very heart of God.
Yeshua did not whisper this commission.
He declared it from a mountain—
a symbolic echo of Moses receiving the law on Sinai,
but now a greater law, a covenant of grace, was being spoken
by the One who fulfilled the law Himself.
⸻
Go: The Commission of Movement
“Go.”
A small word.
A profound command.
It wasn’t an invitation to stay comfortable.
It wasn’t a suggestion to remain in familiar circles.
It was the command to move.
To go forth.
To go out.
To go into.
Go where?
To all nations.
To every people.
To every tribe, tongue, and territory.
Go into their culture.
Go into their lives.
Go into their stories.
Go into their broken places.
Go into the harvest fields.
The Great Commission begins with movement.
Faith isn’t meant to be static.
The gospel isn’t meant to be hidden.
The message isn’t meant to be confined.
We go because He came.
We go because He sends.
⸻
Make Disciples: The Call to Multiply
“Make disciples.”
Not just converts.
Not just attendees.
Not just followers in name.
Disciples.
Students.
Apprentices.
Lifelong learners walking in the way of the Master.
This wasn’t about mass-producing numbers.
It was about multiplying the life of Christ in others.
A disciple isn’t someone who only knows about Him.
A disciple is someone who becomes like Him.
And making disciples is not a one-time transaction.
It’s a relational journey.
A process of walking alongside.
A process of modeling, mentoring, equipping.
We’re not called to build a crowd;
we’re called to build people.
We’re not called to fill seats;
we’re called to fill lives.
⸻
Teaching Them to Observe: The Depth Beyond Doctrine
“Teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you.”
This phrase grips me.
Not “teaching them everything.”
Not “teaching them about everything.”
“Teaching them to observe.”
Observe.
That word shines.
It invites.
It humbles.
To observe is more than to intellectually assent.
To observe is more than to memorize rules.
To observe means to watch,
to behold,
to treasure,
to hold in view,
to practice,
to keep close,
to stay mindful of,
to carry out.
Teaching someone to observe
is like teaching them to see with new eyes,
to notice what others overlook,
to remain attentive to the invisible workings of God’s kingdom
woven through the ordinary.
And oh—
hidden inside the word observe
is the word serve.
It makes me smile.
Because Yeshua’s way of teaching
has always been through servanthood.
When we teach people to observe,
we teach them not merely what to believe,
but how to walk it out
with eyes open,
hearts surrendered,
hands willing.
It’s like the old saying:
“Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day;
teach him to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.”
When we teach someone to observe all Yeshua commanded,
we’re equipping them to become lifelong learners,
lifelong servers,
lifelong bearers of His image.
We’re not handing them prepackaged answers.
We’re pointing them to the One who is the Answer.
And it requires the Holy Spirit.
Only the Spirit can illuminate the words.
Only the Spirit can convict the heart.
Only the Spirit can guide them into all truth.
Teaching to observe invites the Spirit’s ongoing work
rather than limiting discipleship to our own capacity.
It’s the difference between giving a map
and teaching someone how to navigate by the stars.
⸻
The Promise of His Presence
“And lo, I am with you always,
even to the end of the age.”
We don’t go alone.
We don’t teach alone.
We don’t baptize alone.
The One who sends
is the One who stays.
His presence is perpetual.
His nearness is unending.
The Great Commission
is bracketed by His authority (“all authority has been given to Me…”)
and His abiding presence (“I am with you always…”).
We stand in His authority.
We walk in His companionship.
We serve in His strength.
We go because He goes with us.
⸻
Prophetic Insight for Today
The Spirit whispers:
**“I have commissioned you to teach hearts to see.
Not just to recite,
but to recognize.
Not just to memorize,
but to marvel.
Not just to hear,
but to hold.
You are not sent merely to transfer information,
but to invite transformation.
Teach them to observe—
teach them to notice Me in the mundane,
to watch for Me in the waiting,
to listen for Me in the longing.
And as you teach them to observe,
they will learn to serve.
And as they serve,
they will know My heart.”**
⸻
Declarations
I declare I am sent by Yeshua under His authority and with His abiding presence.
I declare I will make disciples who not only know His words but live His ways.
I declare I will teach others to observe, to see, to treasure, to obey all He has commanded.
I declare I will serve as I teach, modeling the heart of the Master.
I declare the Holy Spirit will guide me and those I disciple into deeper truth and living obedience.
⸻
Prayer
Yeshua,
thank You for entrusting me with Your commission.
Teach me to go.
Teach me to make.
Teach me to teach.
Help me live in such a way
that my life itself becomes a lesson in love,
a reflection of grace,
a demonstration of servanthood.
Empower me to teach others to observe—
to see You,
to follow You,
to treasure You.
Fill me with Your Spirit.
Send me into Your harvest.
Multiply disciples who will make disciples
until the whole earth is filled with the knowledge of Your glory.
And may I always carry the joy
of knowing You are with me,
even to the end of the age.
Amen.
⸻
Final Thought
The Great Commission isn’t just a command—
it’s an invitation into His movement.
Go.
Make.
Teach to observe.
Baptize.
And watch as the kingdom unfolds
through willing feet,
servant hearts,
and Spirit-led hands.
He has promised His presence.
He has entrusted His mission.
And He has empowered us
to carry it forward.
Now, Let’s go.
