This Will Be a Sign to You

“This will be a sign to you from Yahweh as a confirmation that I will do for you what I promised.”

—Isaiah 38:7 TPT

God knows the weight of waiting.

He understands the ache of hope deferred and the strain that comes when the promise has been spoken, but the manifestation is yet unseen.

And because He is not only infinite but intimate, He gives us what our human hearts often long for—a sign.

Not because He needs to prove Himself.

But because He desires to draw you closer.

To whisper:

“I haven’t forgotten. I haven’t changed My mind. I will do for you what I promised.”

Isaiah 38 tells the story of King Hezekiah, a man given a death sentence—told by the prophet Isaiah to set his house in order. But Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed. And God, moved by his tears and his faith, responded.

He reversed the decree. He extended Hezekiah’s life.

But He didn’t stop there—He confirmed it with a sign.

He turned the sun backward.

A supernatural event that interrupted the laws of nature just to prove: “Yes, I will do what I said.”

When God Gives You a Sign

We often think of signs as lightning bolts or skywriting.

But signs from God are rarely loud—they are often layered with mystery, wrapped in tenderness, soaked in timing.

They may not look like what you expected.

But they’ll speak directly to what you needed.

A text message at the exact moment of your breakdown.

A sermon that echoes the silent cry of your heart.

A line in a book that reads like it was written just for you.

An unshakable peace where fear used to live.

An impossible provision that shows up just in time.

These are signs, and they are not small.

They are fingerprints from God, reminding you that He is not just near—He is committed.

Why God Confirms His Promises with Signs

1. To Reignite Your Hope

Waiting can wear your faith thin. But a divine sign reignites what delay tries to extinguish.

It’s as if God says, “You’re still on My timeline. Don’t give up.”

2. To Realign Your Perspective

A sign can break through foggy thinking and bring clarity. It pulls your eyes off of fear and fixes them back on the Promise Keeper.

3. To Strengthen Your Resolve

Once you’ve seen a sign, it’s harder to back down.

It marks your spirit. It shifts the atmosphere of your mind.

You begin to walk with boldness, not because you saw the full picture, but because He confirmed the next step.

The Nature of the Sign: Unexpected, Precise, Personal

The sign for Hezekiah wasn’t generic—it was specific to his request, his time, his story.

God turned the shadow on the sundial back ten steps. A clear, physical, undeniable shift in time.

It was so precise, it couldn’t be dismissed.

And this is the nature of God’s signs.

They may not be loud, but they are always loud enough to be unmistakable.

When you know, you know.

And no one can convince you otherwise.

You will feel it in your spirit.

It will find you in a moment of silence.

Or arrive with holy disruption in the middle of your routine.

But when it comes, it brings more than information—

It brings confirmation.

Living in Expectation of Confirmation

We are not meant to live in a constant state of spiritual guessing.

Yes, we walk by faith, not by sight.

But even faith has landmarks—divine signposts that signal: Keep going. You’re still in step. The promise is alive.

Ask Him for a sign—not as a test, but as a conversation.

Not from insecurity, but from intimacy.

God honors the heart that says,

“I believe You—but help my unbelief. Speak to my spirit in a way that settles my mind.”

He isn’t offended by your need for reassurance.

He designed you with that desire—so He could meet it with His presence.

A Personal Declaration: I Will Recognize the Sign

I declare that I will not miss the signs You are sending.

My spirit is alert. My heart is open. My eyes are tuned to the subtle and the sacred.

I will not dismiss divine whispers because they come in unexpected ways.

I will not ignore what You are confirming because it doesn’t fit my expectations.

I trust that You are speaking.

I believe that You are moving.

I declare that You will do what You promised.

And every sign You send will anchor me deeper in trust.

A Prayer for Divine Confirmation

Father,

You are the Promise Maker and the Promise Keeper.

You do not lie. You do not forget. You do not delay without purpose.

But sometimes, my heart grows weary in the waiting.

Sometimes, my faith feels thin.

So I ask—not from doubt, but from desire:

Give me a sign.

Confirm what You have spoken.

Send reminders that stir my soul.

Turn shadows backward if You must.

But speak to me in a way that is undeniably You.

I trust You.

And even in silence, I will still believe.

But I thank You for being the kind of God who sends signs—not because You need to—but because You know I do.

Let every sign be a stone of remembrance.

Let every confirmation push me forward.

Let every whisper of reassurance awaken joy, peace, and holy anticipation.

I receive it.

I believe it.

And I move forward in confidence—

Because You will do for me what You promised.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

Final Thought: Look Again

He promised.

He is faithful.

And He is confirming His word to you—even now.

It might not come the way you expected.

It might not shout.

But it will be undeniable.

So look again.

Listen again.

Wait with wonder.

This will be a sign to you.

Not a maybe. Not a possibility.

A confirmation—

That He will do for you exactly what He said.
